How To Install A Side-View Mirror On Your Vehicle

Tools You Might Need:

* Screw Driver, Socket Wrench

Step 1: Open your car door, and roll down the window all the way down into the door's cavity so that you don't damage it while you're doing your work.

Step 2: You should come across a plastic molding on the opposite side of the mirror at the front point of the car's window.  It might be the same color as your car's interior so make sure you don't overlook it.

Step 3: Now, using your screwdriver, pry the little molding from the door.  You can check to see if it's held in place with screws, but in most cases, it's not held in place with screws, and will usually just be seated against the window socket.  But as you pry the lip from the car door, be sure to look down into the cavity to ensure there aren't screws holding it in place.  If there are, locate the screws, and remove them first.  Otherwise you might break the molding!  If no screws are holding it place, continue to pry until it detaches clean from door.

Step 4: Disconnect the wiring, which may be clamped into place with the car's electrical system (you did turn off your car right?).

Step 5: Move any plugs or insulation out of the way, so that you can install the new mirror.

Step 6: Tighten anything you've loosened while getting to the mirror.  Plug the power supply back in, and start your car to test the power to the mirror -- make sure it works properly in all directions by using your car's mirror switch before closing everything back up.

Step 7: Replace any insulation you may have moved out of the way, and snap your new mirror into place firmly.  Replace any screws you may have removed, and firmly move the mirror to ensure it doesn't shift or shimmy later on when you drive your car.

That's it you're done!
